About Galaxy S2

The Samsung Galaxy S2 is a touchscreen-enabled smartphone. It was designed and produced by Samsung Electronics in slate format, with a 4.3” Super AMOLED Plus display, and Android operating system. The S2 was originally released in 2011, and followed on the heels of the original Samsung Galaxy S - the S2 hardware is an expanded version of the S. The Galaxy S2 is part of the high-end range of ‘S’ or ‘SuperSmart’ series devices., and was the slimmest smartphone available at the time, being mostly under 8.5mm thick, except for two localised areas that took the total thickness up to under 10mm.

One of the notable features of the Galaxy S2 is that it was among the first smartphones to provide MHL (Mobile High-definition Link). MHL enables the output of uncompressed video (up to 1080p) to a television enabled for MHL, while at the same time, charging the smartphone. The S2 battery is user-replaceable, which is a feature many people complain is absent in the later Samsung smartphones, and is able to last for approx. 10 hours under heavy use, or manages a very useful 2 days under light use. The Samsung Galaxy S2 was replaced in 2012 by the Galaxy S3.
