About Galaxy S7 Edge

The Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge was announced, alongside the Galaxy S7, at the Mobile World Congress in February 2016, by Samsung Electronics. The follow-on from the S6 series of Android smartphones, the S7 Edge was made available in Europe during the next month. The S7 Edge has a slightly larger HD screen (5.5”) than the S7 (5.1”), which curves around the long sides of the device. The edges of the screen are therefore visible when the phone is sitting face-down and different colours can be used for visual alerts to actions such as messages and incoming calls.

Dust and water-resistant, with expandable storage and wireless charging, the Galaxy S7 Edge is notable in that it was originally mainly available in gold or black, but special editions were also issued for the Summer Olympics in 2016. These had the body in dark blue, with various colours inspired by the Olympic rings as accents on the case and in the software. These phones were put on sale in limited numbers, and were also given to many of the athletes taking part in the Games, in Samsung’s capacity as a Worldwide Olympic Partner.
