About Galaxy S9+

Released for sale in the UK in March 2018, the Samsung Galaxy S9+ Android smartphone was announced alongside the Galaxy S9 in Barcelona at the February 2018 Mobile World Congress. The successor to the Galaxy S8+, the S9+ looked very similar to the earlier model and retained many of its features and functions. With the same display size (6.2”) and aspect ratio, glass rear casing, plus optional docking station, keyboard and mouse, critics were concerned that the Galaxy S9+ did not offer enough new and attractive features.

However, there were improvements on the Galaxy S9+ over and above the S8+, the most noticeable of which was on the rear of the smartphone. The fingerprint sensor on the S8+ was subject to criticism for being placed in an awkward to reach position, but on the S9+ it was relocated to a more central and easier to reach place. In addition, security improvements were made by combining iris scanning and face recognition into an ‘Intelligent Scan’ feature. Camera improvements were also made, which included a super slow-motion feature, a low light capability, and in order to continue to compete with the Apple iPhone X, the ‘AR Emoji’ capability which produces animated emojis based on the user’s face.
