The iPhone 5s was announced by Apple Inc. at a press conference at the Cupertino Campus on 10th September 2013, along with a lower cost version called iPhone 5c, and both were released 10 days later. In outward appearance, the iPhone 5s looks very similar to the iPhone 5, apart from a new white and gold case colour combination, and the addition of Touch ID to the Home button. There are many other less obvious differences, including the use of the A7 processor – the first 64-bit dual-core processor to appear in a smartphone, combined with the M7 motion co-processor, plus AirDrop and Control Centre for the most frequently used functions.
The larger format iPhone 6 took the flagship status away from the iPhone 5s in 2014, but in 2016, the iPhone SE was announced, which was basically the iPhone 6 hardware, contained within the more compact iPhone 5s casing.
